Features or Bugs
I thought at first I was just newb-ing it up (and this could still totally be the case) and could not figure out how to get to the edit menu, but it is now looking like something is wrong with my game.
There is nothing shown under "visual" for the spells. I can click the word, I can edit the mana values, but nothing is visible under visual either in pre-made spells or on new ones. I can see compiled code, but no visual. I tried editing the values in the compiled code directly, of course that did not work, so I am left with no spell code to work with.
At the moment I am amusing my self by flying up on rocks, flinging the space cow creatures, and digging holes, lol. Looking forward to being able to edit spells - please let me know if this is a known issue or if I am just being an idiot.
My attempted fix: I have restarted the game, uninstalled the game and re-installed the game.
Am I just being an idiot after all, and am missing the spell edit menu somehow?
I guess I am glad I am not the only one, I wonder if it is something to do with the beta version? If it differs from the updated version of the alpha release in some way, by accident? Or maybe our systems?
I am on Windows 8.1, with an Nvidia graphics card. How about you?
This is totally normal. I'm not sure why, but for some reason the spellcrafting interface takes a while to load the first time it is opened after each launch of CodeSpells. Try leaving it open for about a minute without doing anything, and see if that fixes the problem.
Also, what graphics quality are you using? For some reason, on Medum quality, spell editing is impossible. I forgot to mention that, but it is a bug that I've noticed many times. Try using Low or High quality instead.
I was trying high, so have now tried low. Still no dice.
Also, I turned the game on and left it running for 20 minutes without doing anything, then opened the spell menu to a spell. Still nothing. So I left it running with a duplicated spell open for 20 minutes. And still no blocks visible.
Do the blocks run on flash or something else that I can try to update separately from the game?
The game appears to be working fine, other than having no spell creation or change options.
I'm also on Windows 8.1 with an Nvidia card. I'll try leaving it open for a while on high or low and see what happens.
Looking into this to try to get a solid way to reproduce it. I'll keep you all posted on any progress with fixing it.
For now, I don't think it has to do with the performance setting -- it just seems to be something related to it taking a very long time to load on some machines...
@a_lomo: Sounds like we need an in-game option for blockly / coherent UI that sets:
CoherentUIView.ForceSoftwareRendering = true
This seems to be a goto option if users setting a primary graphics adapter doesn't work.
@Yaktoo: Which nvidia graphics card do you have? There are some system requirements for the user interface components that run the spell editor.
One of those requirement is Shaders 3.0.
Hi I also have this problem, my grafic card is an Nvidia Gtm 960 (or 980 can't remember right now) which I'm pretty sure should be able to run this game. I noticed that the Coherent UI banner appears on the top right side when I click visual and it doesn't get pull back properly which make me think that the problem is probably related to that. Hopefully we can get this fix soon, I really want to play this game.
I, for one, am running off a Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M.
Hey, just on a hunch, I ran Steam verify, and it had to reacquire some files, and now it works. So everyone having this problem might try that a few times just in case.
We released an update yesterday http://the-codespells-forum.herokuapp.com/t/release-updates/729
Hopefully that contributed to the fix. I'm still looking into it taking a while to load, but it should display properly now
I have got the same bug.
I have no idea how to fix it or why it does this I was hoping you would have solved it by now.
