Sorry it's taken so long to put anything out! This game is huge, and it's feels pretty dense to understand. Next, I'm looking to populate the world with some of those earth beasts, starting today.
CodeSpells Version 0.904 -- Default, Nightly Branch
This version rebases both the nightly, or default branches of CodeSpells. At this version they are on in the same.
In this version we are taking a step back with multiplayer. One of the things we did was changing out the ui engine to make development easier in the long run. In doing so, we chose to regress multiplayer since the veins of multiplayer were intertwined with the old ui system. We want to rebuild multiplayer to be peer-to-peer rather than peer-to-server anyhow. Therefore, we opted to remove multiplayer features at this point rather than rebuilding them within the new ui framework. In addition to that change, we made the following:
More interesting creature interaction:
-Creatures can be slammed into the ground, and will be dealt damage based on collisions (Before, certain like the ground would not cause damage to creatures)
-Next Steps: Populate the world with the new rocky giant creature, which has a ragdoll, and make other creatures in the world have a ragdoll.
-The server for logging in/out rebuilt to talk with the new UI framework
-The server no longer hosts multiplayer, as we are moving toward peer-to-peer connection
Hey! Congratulations on your first update! ;D
Even though I'm saddened to see multiplayer go, I understand your choices.
I love the new Skybox ^^
Good luck for the upcoming updates!
Anyway, you should really join the Discord Server, as most people are active there, and you'd get the bug reports real fast ^^

It's nice to hear the update news of this awesome game.
However, we found that the previous built-in levels were disappeared at this version. We've used the previous levels as homework of our programming courses. The sudden disappearance of the levels causes some trouble to us.
Could you please explain why the levels are removed? Will they be recovered in future version? (or just make these levels able to play only in single-player mode?)
I think the levels you are talking about were the arenas. We removed them because they were mostly focused on multiplayer, and were twined as such.
It's definitely possible to bring those back though for single-player only. I could give that a shot today.
So I can prioritize, can you tell me how you used those arenas for homework? What kind of experience did you create for yourself?
Hi Angoulor, I've joined the discord you invited me to. Thanks for the invite! I'll sign into that when I check in each day.
Thanks for the quick response.
In our homework, students would challenge the arena on their own. After they complete, they hand us the screenshot of result page and the code they used in the arena. The homework are scored based on them.
We also have a system showing the current champion of each arena, encouraging student to try to get higher score in these arenas. (champion would get special bonus to the final score)
Hope this would help!
No problem. I'll look into what it will take to bring an arena back. Which arena was your favorite by the way?
Thanks for continuing to work on the project.
Coincident with my son logging on with the new update, all of his spells were gone. All of them. Everything. He's pretty upset. Now, maybe it has nothing to do with the update, but we cannot think of another reason, as only he uses the account and did not delete anything.
Hi, I'm sorry this happened.
Can you tell me what email you guys sign in with?
Actually, you can email me directly at email@example.com. This way you don't need to make your email public here.
My favorite one was Entropy Arena. It's quite interesting to think how to use lesser magic to destroy the building.
After radio silence, I am sincerely psyched about an update! Could you throw up a weekly dev log, that just mentions what you've been working on? Even if we don't see a lot of updates, it is very encouraging to see progress.
Thanks for the rag dolls; looking forward to the new monsters!
Your welcome! I sure can give some updates on a weekly basis.
