EST - Eastern Standard Time, the time zone that a lot of east coast people in Canada and the US are in.
GMT - Greenwich Mean Time is the time in Greenwich, London and is used to compare timezones (I.e. I am GMT-5, so 5 hours behind GMT
UTC - Universal Coordinated Time, the standard that most places use to compare timezones. Basically the same thing as GMT except people say that GMT is out-dated since it goes by solar time. Basically interchangeable though
So by saying you are in CET+1 you are in UTC+2 (GMT+2 also, same difference really. Assuming CET is Central European Time)
Welcome to Timezones, the thread!
What about @Bandersnatch and @Amulgagar as mentors? They´re probably the two most veteran code wizards on these forums.
Edit: also @Keter and @CodeGlitch
Aha, that clarified a lot. So I guess I am just CET meaning I'm UTC or GMT +1
So I chose to not respond to this thread because I'm not always in a position to be able to converse with someone easily. I'm fine with being put on there as a general person to ask if you have questions about coding with UnityScript, but I can't commit to being available enough to help a specific person. So yea, if you want @Angoulor, you can list me as just someone to ask questions to about UnityScript when you can't figure it out yourself.
As for the others you listed (and others you didn't), well, I can't speak for them, but I know some people were very careful in the past to keep people from asking them any questions for a multitude of varying reasons. So we really shouldn't be calling anyone out if they don't offer to do it themselves. (I know you didn't mean anything by it, just something to be aware of).
Whats a good time for you to do this.
You're totally right! Nobody will be put as a Mentor or an Apprentice without him/her directly asking me (via this thread or MP). I totally understand why one wouldn't everybody to add them, or simply speak to them. So, as for now, it will be like this ^^
It was only an idea. I see it works a bit (2 mentors, 2 apprentices), so i'll keep this topic up to date so other apprentices/mentors can see it and join us ^^
hi. That's a brilliant idea. I would very much appreciate indeed a bit of a mentor's time to get started and be able to create a couple of spells with my kid on the weekend if possible. I'm GMT (London).
@luciem I'm at GMT+1. Would you like me to be your mentor?
Sign me up! I'm UTC -8, but I can generally be pretty flexible with my time.
I did not mean to push anyone into anything. Just wanted to make sure that you among others that have already been a great resource to the community had been taken into account. I apologize if this seemed pushy or something. This was not my intention.
I know ^_^. I'm just letting you know that others have interpreted similar things as such (as I learned the hard way).
@luciem : it seems you still don't have a mentor. I'm only one hour ahead of you, so, would you like me to be your mentor?
@Amulgagar , @tobybug : May I put you together? Todybug, you are 3 hours ahead of Amulgagar, but he said he is pretty flexible, so, are you two okay with this?
EDIT : Anyone knows how to make a pretty table? I tried a lot, but either it looks awful, or it looks good but I can't put links in them. Any idea?
Sounds good to me, as long as you're cool with that, @tobybug! Unfortunately, I don't know how to make a table, but someone posted a link to the markup for this forum system a long time ago. I'll see if I can find it.
Not sure if you can make a table but you can make a bulleted list for sure.
These tags don't work so ehh
What would this arrangement entail?
Sorry if i sound suspicious, I'm just curious.
"Tables aren't part of the core Markdown spec"
And I don't think Discourse has this functionality unfortunately
I'm http://steamcommunity.com/id/nekobakaz and I mostly just fiddle around with no idea what I'm doing. So if anyone wants to mentor me (or even just chat! I like having friends!), please do! I'm in EST, but I'm one of those people who sleep during the day, am awake during the night, and never really sign out of Steam. I work part-time and go to school part-time, but often have a lot of free time
Hey if you don't mind @WhiteTern & @Angoulor, I would like to mentor @nekobakaz since we are in the same time zone and it would just make more sense. WhiteTern and I haven't gotten anything going yet and it's just so hard with time zones so far apart.
You sure? I tend to be awake at weird times.
