I was wandering on the Steam Community and the forum, and saw two kinds of people : all-mighty Wizards, doing incredible things, and new-born Wizards, kind of struggleing to learn wizardry... So I thought : why not create mentors and apprentices?
The principle is simple : one who feels confident enough will register as a Mentor, and the ones seeking help will register as Apprentices. A mentor will add his apprentices on Steam and will have a simple task : turn his apprentice into a great wizard, knowing how to code!
List of Mentors :
- Amulgagar Timezone : GMT-8
- Angoulor Timezone : GMT+1
- AureEntuluva Timezone : GMT-5
- Burgy Timezone : GMT-5
- Hephaestus789 Timezone : GMT-5
- Keys Timezone : GMT+10
List of Apprentices :
- Jake , mentor : (none), Timezone : GMT-5
- lago , mentor : Hephaestus789 , Timezone : GMT-5
- luciem , mentor : (none) , Timezone : GMT+0
- nekobakaz , mentor : Burgy , Timezone : GMT-5
- tobybug , mentor : Amulgagar , Timezone : GMT-5
- WhiteTern , mentor : Angoulor , Timezone : GMT+1
- Chickenberg , mentor : (none) , Timezone : GMT-7
- sdiaz489 , mentor : (none) , Timezone : GMT-5
I think this is a great plan, but hard to really implement well until multiplayer becomes a feature of the game. At that point, I think I'd be thrilled to sign up as either station. Preferably both.
Well, one can help and be helped via the Steam chat and Screenshots/Streaming, I guess. At least, that's what I plan to do. Do I add you as both Mentor and Apprentice, then?
Though really tempting, I think I may have to step down from either of those roles simply due to a lack of time to be able to commit to the game to do either of those roles justice.
Sounds like a fun idea. You may sign me up as Apprentices if you like, and we will see how it goes.
@Burgy You don't need to know anything about Eval
I try to remain as Eval-free as possible when doing spells, and I think that we should learn Blockly first ^^
Anyway. So, I sign you up as a Mentor? If you're okay (and he is), you may become @WhiteTern 's Mentor
And I am heading to work right now @WhiteTern , but I should be home at around 9:30-10:00pm EST if you are open to a session then or maybe tomorrow
Add me on Steam when you can: http://steamcommunity.com/id/Burgersz/
well... we are gonna have a little problem due to Local time difference...
I live in the Netherlands. We have a six hour time difference. Although I think it would be cool to have sessions where we do whatever we will do and enjoy Codespells.
PS: my steam name is WhiteTern, i've added you
Sign me up as an apprentice because i hardly know anything yet. My steam name is Lago.
What is your timezone and we could try and set something up soon. I usually stay up super late on the weekends when I can so I can probably get something in sometime.
Totally forgot about the timezones... Can you all give your timezone? Please use the GMT+X/GMT-X times ^^
I'm at GMT+1! ^^
My time zone is EST +5. the New York time zone thing.
EST+5? So, GMT+0? London time? ^^
Nope i was wrong, it's just EST
I'll mentor Lago, I'm EST too.
Done! Added you as @lago 's Mentor! Have fun!
Nice to meet you Mentor, i hope you're better at the game than me
(I'm also GMT-5, but I can work around your schedule probably @WhiteTern )
I don't know all those abbreviations like 'EST' and 'GTM'...
But I think I am CET +1 (although the Netherlands is in the UTC row)
Here is a link to see what time it is in wich citty, according to UTC: http://www.timeanddate.com/time/map/
